The Jigsaw Piece was designed originally as after dinner cabaret entertainment and has been extremely successful in that role. The company will start the evening with a walkabout performance during the reception/as people arrive and present the 17 minute acrobatic stilt ballet during coffee/later on in the evening.

We also perform the jigsaw as a visually stunning 17-minute show. is a acrobatic stilt ballet for four performers. The walkabout versions involves working with the space we are performing in to provide the most aesthetic images.

Visually the piece is sharp and stylish, the costumes are black and white stripes. There is also a strong modern dance music soundtrack. Physically we have been working on all the acrobatic possibilities of the different combinations of various stilt sizes and numbers of limbs (2,3 and 4). Theatrically the piece is about how different members of a society/group relate and how these relationships develop for better and for worse. These connections can be positive and negative, loving and confrontational but without the whole variety of characters and relationships the society is not complete. As with a jigsaw puzzle, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and eventually all pieces will find their place.

Technically the piece needs a stage or area of approximately 24 square foot. The show is designed to be able to be staged almost anywhere- on a proper music stage as well as smaller more purpose-built stages or even on any piece of flat ground including dry grass or the street. We will need you to supply a PA system with a mini-disc player. If set at night or indoors we will need you to light the show. A specification will be sent on request.
